Lynn targets IPL Opener

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore cleared the doubts overplaying of their star batsman Chris Lynn. He looked confident and reported that Lynn along with Andre Russell will join the KKR camp before their opener on April 8 in the IPL 2018 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Lynn got his shoulder injury during the tri-series final against New Zealand while he was diving to stop the ball where he landed awkwardly on his right shoulder trying to save his already troublesome left shoulder. And after this incident, he had to miss the entire season of 2018 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

All this took place about one month after the IPL auctions where the Kolkata-based franchise bought the Australian batsman for a whopping Rs. 9.8 crores using their Right to Match (RTM) card. The franchise’s miseries increased when another player Andre Russell got his hamstring injury in a PSL match where the West Indian was representing Islamabad United against Karachi Kings.

That was not it and their vows continued with the decision of making their captain which was later settled by opting for Dinesh Karthik. Everyone kept their fingers crossed until Venky officially announced that the two(Lynn and Russell) will be available for the KKR’s opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Chris Lynn is tall, aggressive and a hard-hitting T20 batsman and losing such a player from your team is an unrecoverable loss. But the batsman has always been prone to injuries. For instance, during the last year IPL also Lynn was injured and had to leave KKR in the midway and worries continued for him in the international matches and BBL after that.

Confirmation of playing of both Lynn as well as Russell will be a huge relief for a team like Kolkata as they are already don’t have many players that can be used as backups. After all this, other reports also started to come stating the issues over Mitchell Starc’s sore calf which if turns out to be true then it will be a huge loss for the team.
